Cost: $120/semester

Class Description:

“One day you’ll be old enough to enjoy fairytales again.” — CS Lewis

Every week we will be peering into one of the classical Wonder Stories written by the Grimm Brothers, Hans Christian Andersen, Charles Purrault & several others! We will begin our time with a creative storytelling session full of engaging voices & thought-provoking questions to see what weird or unusual things your children think might happen next! Throughout this course we will also talk into the difference between fairytales & cautionary tales, the 2 basic literary patterns of all fairytales, compare & contrast various retellings, and the power of good illustrations!

We will end our class each week creating an enchanted project that goes with our story for that week (rolled beeswax candles, dragon eye magnets, invisible ink, gingerbread decorating challenge, etc)!

During the second semester our class will begin preparing a skit/drama for our end of semester showcase that they will work on together after our read aloud time!

Extra Credit: I don’t do assigned homework for my classes, but I do have a list of fun & unique extra credit options that allows them to earn points in order to draw a prize from our treasure chest each week!

Grades: This class is geared towards 4th-8th grader, but if your 3rd grader is fine with some of the weird & unusual things found in the original fairytales, they are more than welcome in this class!

Instructor: Liza Lee

Time: 11:00-11:50am
